Citation (in part)

"On 20 April 2010, the nation mobilized all aspects of the government to combat the largest offshore oil spill in United States history following the catastrophic fire and sinking of the Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit DEEPWATER HORIZON.  Approximately five million barrels of oil were released into the gulf of Mexico impacting a five-state region and closing more than 80,000 square miles of federal fishery waters.  This monumental response required the unity in effort and assiduous teamwork of over 47,000 federal, state, and local responders, including over 7,000 Coast Guard personnel, and the deployment of 80 Coast Guard cutters and aircraft.  The phenomenal efforts by all involved resulted in the recovery of 35 million gallons of oily water, the deployment of more than 11 million feet of boom, and the cleaning of over 900 miles of shoreline. You adeptly assisted the unit leader in collecting and segregating all forms, print media and maps into original and duplicate bundles that were boxed, bar-coded, and transported.  Additionally, you personally loaded and transported 24 boxes of historically and legally important documents and moved them to the designated spill storage facility as well as retrieving material from several forward operating bases.  Your efforts during long and tedious twelve hour shifts helped ensure accurate documentation of all the historical events required for a good post-spill analysis. Your efforts were instrumental in responding to this catastrophic event and in assisting a devastated area move towards recovery."
