"During this time you set up key partnerships on the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, with the Missouri State Water Patrol and the Osage Beach Police and Fire Departments that allowed boat crews from Coast Guard Sector Upper Mississippi River (UMR) to patrol the Lake of the Ozarks during major holiday weekends and large scale marine events. Your expertise and local knowledge allowed Sector UMR boat forces to quickly integrate with the local Lake of the Ozarks law enforcement agencies to enforce the Coast Guard Recreational Boating safety mission. As a result of your dedication and professional planning, Coast Guard active duty boat crews were able to provide over 90 underway hours at the Lake of the Ozarks during Memorial Day Weekend, July 4th Weekend, Labor Day Weekend, and two major boat races that attracted hundreds of boaters. Notably, these patrols resulted in over 50 boarding's, over 100 vessel spot checks, several Boating under the Influence stops, and one medical evacuation from Anderson Cove. Your continued efforts to promote safe boating on the Lake of the Ozarks have directly saved many lives and exemplify your devotion to duty." |
