Citation (in part)

"You performed over 350 hours of underway duty during both day and night conditions, confirming the operational readiness of navigational aids along several hundred miles of the Upper Mississippi, Missouri, and Illinois rivers.  Disregarding your own needs, you selflessly volunteered your time and often extended operations well into early morning hours to ensure mission completion.  In addition, you maximized training opportunities for seven additional Auxiliary Aids to Navigation Verifiers, passing your experience on to others and ensuring future mission cohesiveness and execution.  You were instrumental to the Sector Upper Mississippi River Aids to Navigation mission.  Notably, you reported 100% of navigational aids to your AOR during the 2007, 2008, and 2009 operational years.  Your diligence and attention to detail required many additional hours of panning and assessment due to volatile weather conditions and numerous record flooding events throughout your designated areas of responsibility.  During these patrols, you were able to safely navigate your vessel without accident or incident to complete these important missions despite the often dynamic and challenging conditions.
