Marine Safety & Environmental Protection

Missions performed by the Coast Guard Auxiliary provide support for such things as marine environmental response assistance, port safety and security inspections, commercial vessel safety and security inspections, container inspection assistance, mariner licensing/documentation/course audits, public affairs, area contingency planning, waterway management, MDA/America's Waterway Watch, MISLE support, environmental education and many other areas.

Maritime Domain Awareness

Defined as "the effective understanding of anything associated with the global maritime environment that could impact the security, safety, economy or environment of the United States."  It is deeply imbedded in every Coast Guard and Auxiliary mission.  Auxiliary missions act as an effective force multiplier, broadening the reach of Coast Guard forces in the vital task of providing safety and security on America's waterways.
